Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Perioperative Services to provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and clinical direction for perioperative services. This executive nursing leadership role is responsible for ensuring excellence in surgical services, quality outcomes, patient safety, financial performance, and compliance with regulatory standards.

The Director serves as a key leader within the organization, overseeing perioperative operations on a 24-hour basis while promoting professional nursing practice, operational efficiency, and exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations

• Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for perioperative services.
• Direct day-to-day operations and long-term program development.
• Lead managers and clinical leaders in achieving departmental and organizational goals.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on quality and patient safety.
• Serve as a mentor and resource for nursing leadership teams.
• Support recruitment, retention, engagement, and professional development initiatives.

Financial Management

• Develop, manage, and monitor operating, labor, and capital budgets.
• Optimize staffing models and resource allocation.
• Drive operational improvements while maintaining fiscal accountability.
• Identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Clinical Excellence & Quality

• Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based patient care.
• Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Monitor key performance metrics and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Support ongoing competency validation and staff development programs.

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with executive leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Promote effective communication across departments and service lines.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to support patient care goals.
• Lead change management initiatives and organizational improvement efforts.

Professional Practice

• Promote nursing excellence and adherence to professional standards.
• Support innovation, research, and best practices within perioperative services.
• Maintain a culture focused on accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
• Advocate for patient-centered care and positive patient experiences.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing plus a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Management, Public Health, Business, or a related field
• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum 10 years of nursing experience
• Minimum 3 years of nursing leadership or administration experience
• Strong background in perioperative and surgical services operations
• Demonstrated success managing budgets, quality initiatives, and multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Director-level leadership experience within surgical or perioperative services
• Experience leading large-scale clinical operations
• Strong physician relationship management skills
• Experience with regulatory compliance, accreditation surveys, and performance improvement initiatives
• Ability to scrub and circulate when necessary
