Senior Cloud Architect

Looking for a Senior Cloud Architect for a six month contract with possible extensions or conversion to FTE of our client to join our client’s Platform Services Team. This role is for one of our best retail clients with headquarters in Southern Maine. Candidates can work remotely but will need to work EST hours and preference is for candidate to be on the east coast.

This person will provide technical & strategic leadership as well as “get their hands dirty” building and advancing our Google Cloud Platform. The Platform is the foundation to support the modernization of our client’s front-end customer technology systems to Omnichannel microservices using containers, Kubernetes, and related technologies. This role will have a strong influence on the architectural direction for the cloud platform, CI/CD pipeline, and a goal of “automate everything”. This role will focus on evaluating and integrating cutting edge technologies through partnerships with our vendors and use of relevant open-source technologies.

Platform Services Responsibilities:

• Product responsibility:
• Cloud-based infrastructure, tools, and configurations
• Compute capacity, data storage, and networking capabilities
• Practice areas: “Automate Everything”
• Infrastructure?– create systems and configurations
• Continuous Delivery?– develop pipelines that build, test, and deploy applications fast, often, & automated
• Site Reliability Engineering?– enable monitoring/alerting, auto-scaling, security, & self-healing system stability

Senior Cloud Architect:

• Responsibilities:
• Evangelize and innovate to ensure the Platform is using the most reasonable & effective cutting-edge technologies
• Evangelize microservice based architecture using containerized applications. Experience strategizing?on-prem to cloud transformation for large scale applications
• Design and implement solutions that span GCP/GKE, CI/CD, monitoring, and security
• Collaborate and pair with the Platform team to ensure knowledge and expertise is shared & developed
• Stay current on industry trends; innovate through research, proof of concepts, and demos
• Shared responsibility for 24x7 research and resolution of production system problems through participation in an on-call rotation
• Support a “security first” advocacy and encourage platform solutions that enable the microservice product teams to “shift left”
• Ensure compliance with applicable security and privacy standards and regulations
• Participates in the recruitment of team members both employees and vendor employees
• Training and mentoring peers and management

Technical Skills/Experience:

• Cloud: Google (preferred), AWS, Azure
• GCP tools: Cloud Data Fusion, Vertex AI, Dataflow, Pub/Sub
• Orchestration: GKE (preferred), AKS, EKS
• CI/CD: Jenkins, Harness
• Monitoring: Prometheus/Grafana (preferred), Stackdriver
• Database: Mongo, Cloud SQL
• Service Mesh: Istio
• API: Cloud Endpoints, Apigee
• Language/scripting: Python (preferred), Bash, Node.
